Stress happens
You work hard for others during most of your waking hours, whether you get paid for all of that time or not. Even if you love what you do during those hours, the constant pressure of trying to give your best all of the time can be exhausting.
If you’re constantly tired, it can be a cruel irony when sleep is hard to come by. You may feel irritable or on edge, or possibly say things that you regret when you feel depleted. Your shoulders might creep up towards your ears more often than you realize. Tension headaches or even migraines may be a regular occurrence for you, and frequent gastrointestinal distress can add an additional layer of difficulty to your days. You may find yourself coping in ways that bring relief in the short term, but could lead to more difficulties down the road. There are more effective ways to manage stress that set you up for long-term success.

find balance
Learning about your boundaries can help you determine if they’re working well for you. Recognizing your expectations for yourself and others can lead to an assessment of how realistic they are, and whether a shift in priorities can lead to more stability in your life.
Effective communication can be refined to increase clarity and kindness when speaking not only to others, but to yourself as well. When you pay attention to your thoughts, you create opportunity to re-evaluate how you view and talk to yourself.
Finding joy and connection through movement (not necessarily “exercise”) can be a powerful antidote to stress. Science has proved that experiencing movement in a natural setting such as a park, forest, or coastal area can be even more effective than being indoors. Other physical forms of stress relief can include mindful breathing, laughter and affection, and creative expression.
These simple pleasures are not necessarily easy to do on a regular basis, but you are worth it. Taking the time to care for yourself can often fall by the wayside when others depend on you for so much. Working together we can figure out how to best get your needs met, so you can spend your precious time not only working to change the world, but resting and playing in it as well.
